Boo To You And You And You And You, Happy Halloween!

So if any of you know me at all, then you already know that one of my favorite holidays is Halloween. Last year during my CP Program, I attended Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. It is by far, my favorite Disney event out of the year.  I fell in love with every aspect of the party. I remember very clearly watching the parade for the first time and listening Hallowishes while dancing an singing and not caring about what the people around me thought.

This year, I am happy to say that I returned and enjoyed it even more. On a warm September evening, all thanks to some awesome discounts and my undying love of fall, I attended with my current roommates as well as an old friend from my CP Program who was in town. We laughed, we cried, we danced, we sang, we watched my favorite parade of all time and sang along to Hallowishes. We also met a lot of characters. One of my favorite memories involved myself, my roommates, and  our good friends Mickey and Minnie. We walked in around 11 PM to meet them with no one in line. With that said, we were able to spend some extra special time with our favorite bosses. We pretty much had a photo shoot. It was totally epic to say the least. I cracked them up by being my weird self and going on a man hunt for my purse that I happened to misplace. It turned out, Mickey stole it and didn't tell me. I later took some none ashamed selfies with the bosses and gave them so many hugs at the end. It was the perfect way to end the evening. Here are some pictures from our amazing night.

Just Remember One Thing: It Was All Started By A Mouse!

So let's start from the beginning.

Hello! My name is Mary Beth. I am a current Cast Member at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL. I started out my time as part of the Disney College Program while working at Innoventions in Epcot in the Fall of 2012. In that role, I was a show Presenter and rotated between five different shows and scripts on a daily basis while performing in front of guests of all ages. This gave great opportunity for guests to say ridiculous things and keep me on my toes while made me think "Did they really just say that?!" One CP extension, a brief stint of seasonal and a few months of Part Time status later, I am happy to say that I am now a Full Time Cast Member working at the Disney's Port Orleans Resort at the Front Desk with great potential to move up in the company.

In this past year and two months, I have collected so many funny quotes and interactions from guests. I feel as though I am being selfish by not sharing these great moments with the rest of the world. So here it is, the much anticipated, long over due adventures of my life as a Disney Cast Member. Enjoy!

Let's start with quotes and stories from way back when:

5/8/13
conversation with a 5 year old at my habit hero's venue in interventions:

5 year old: hey, I have super hero powers! I can shoot water out of my feet and eyes!
me: no way! how can you do that?!
5 year old: *whispers* I can't tell you, it's a secret.
me: I completely understand.
5 year old: this conversation... never happened. *winkey face*
me: *stern hand shake* you got it dude.

 DISNEY FAIL:

July 2012:
While putting on a show in front of about 24 people, I went in to give a little girl a high five for answering a question right. For some reason, unknown to me I completely miss her hand and high five her right in the face. Yes that's right. In. The. FACE. Mortified doesn't even begin to describe how I felt at that moment. A nonchalant "sorry about that" and a witty joke later, the girl recovered quite nicely. This was the day that I died a little on the inside, but the show must go on!

With all the embarrassing moments from either the guests or myself, each story is counterbalanced with a great magical moment. A story that reminds me why I work for this company.

Two examples of these moments go as followed:

August 2012:
A little boy who had to of been no older than 10, along with his father approached me to pin trade. I saw that he was wearing a celebration button. I asked the little boy what he was celebrating and the father told me he survived his 4th open heart surgery and he is now the healthiest he has been since he was a baby. I let the little boy trade as many pins with me that he wanted that day.

4/21/13
I Met a little boy from England who was in one of my shows. He had 3rd degree burn scars over most of his body. It broke my heart to see him that way, but to have him forget his condition for a few minutes and run around and smiling during the entire game was just one of those reminders as to what a magical place this truly is.

Sometimes, I really love my job.
THERE ARE PLENTY MORE STORIES AND QUOTES TO COME SO PLEASE STAY TUNED!
